Rule Set & Modifications
USAV rules apply.
In Midwest Volleyball Warehouse, the divider curtains between courts and the beam supporting those curtains are out of bounds. The remainder of the ceiling is in bounds per USAV rules.
Normal adjacent court rules apply. Players may not enter the blue part of the court next to them before, during or after playing the ball.
Special Rules for 12U Power League Matches
Net will be approximately 7'
A serving line will be placed on the court 7 meters from the net. Players may not cross that line when serving
Volley-Lite balls will be used
If a team scores 3 points in a row with the same server, then that team shall retain possession of the ball, but they must rotate and have a new server
Officials are asked by the league to be very, very lenient on their calls for the 12U league. Only obvious throws, lifts, and net violations should be called.
Officials accepting assignments should be flexible and understanding of changes due to unforeseen circumstances caused by the pandemic.
An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death.
By visiting Midwest Volleyball Warehouse and participating in a Northern Lights event, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.
Adhere to current CDC & MDH guidelines regarding face coverings. Officials must wear a properly fitted mask that covers their mouth and nose at all times and use a hand-held whistle. If a malfunction occurs with a hand-held whistle, a regular whistle may be used as long as it is completely covered underneath a mask to reduce the potential of droplets.
Masks shall be worn at all times and in all areas of the building by everyone (players, coaches, referees, management, everyone). Masks worn by officials must completely cover their mouth & nose at ALL times, no exceptions.
When entering, please be sure to identify yourself as an official to those taking admission. Officials will be temperature checked and answer COVID questions upon entering the building.
Social distancing must be adhered to wherever possible.
Frequent use of hand sanitizer is asked of everyone present.
Officials are not expected to monitor the physical distancing of others. Each person is responsible to provide space between themselves and others. Coaches should provide direction to their athletes regarding social distancing and other safety protocols. If there is an issue of concern with either social distancing or mask wearing compliance, bring it to the attention of the court monitors/site director.
Water fountains will be turned off; bottle fillers remain on.
There is a room marked and available for officials in the playing facility area. Social distancing & mask wearing are required when using this room and throughout the facility. Please keep it tidy during the day and clean-up at the end of play.
Concessions will not be sold. Outside food will be allowed for officials. Please be discreet when bringing in and consuming outside food in the building.
Northern Lights asks that any individual (player, coach, official, etc.) not attend Power League if they have experienced a positive COVID-19 test in the past 14 days and/or are actively showing symptoms of COVID-19. They ask the same if there has been a known exposure to an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 and/or is actively showing symptoms.
Any other precautions as noted in the full COVID-19 plan linked in the prior section. These rules may change as the guidelines by the state/governor change during the season.
