Verify the page you selected is for the correct date (listed in the blue header)
Find your Court # and wave start time and click that box to view the bracket for the two matches.
The top team will warm-up first to start the wave. The top team will serve first for sets 1 & 3.
The bottom team will warm-up second to start the wave. The bottom team will serve first for set 2.
Up to 4 waves on a court. Each wave will consist 2 matches.
The first match in a wave will not start earlier than the scheduled wave start time. The 2nd match in a wave will start 5 minutes after the completion of the first matches on the paired courts.
Each match is best 2 out of 3 sets, the first two sets will be played to 25 points, win by two points with no cap. The third set of a match will be to 15 points, win by two points with no cap. Teams will NOT be asked to switch sides at any time during the match.
UPDATED: If the match is decided in two sets, start a non-deciding third set to 15 points and play until the clock hits 10:00 for the first round, 20:00 for the second round.
Each match will have a time limit and will end at the buzzer that is run by the site director. The team ahead at the time of the buzzer is the winner of the set in progress. If the score is tied, play one more rally to determine the winner.
There are 15 minutes between waves to move the playing teams out and the new teams in.
Warm-up: Your first match will start at the start time scheduled. Allow for a 4-4 warm up where the top team on the score-sheet/bracket will have the first 4 minutes to warm up (clock at 68:00), including serving. The second 4 minutes will be for the team that is on the bottom of the score-sheet/bracket (clock at 64:00). There is no warm up for the second match in each wave since they have just finished playing. The time on your clock is all the time you have, so if your court uses some of the time for a warm up, then they are cutting into their playing time.
Rule Reminders: USAV rules apply. Players will not be allotted any reserves in the league. Once an athlete makes a toss attempt, they must serve that ball. Net violations will be called when the player is in the act of playing the ball. Encroachment past the center-line is a violation if it causes interference or presents a safety hazard.
Only R1s will be used. No R2s or LJs.
A parent rep will keep score on a simple score-sheet and update the visual scoreboard from the mezzanine.
$27 per match, you will be paid directly by Northern Lights - NOT Metro
At your first Northern Lights assignment, you will need to fill out an independent contractor agreement for Northern Lights because they are paying you. Contracts will be given to you by the site director.
In order to accept an assignment for this Fall League, you will be required to review & submit a signed copy of the Northern Lights liability waiver to the site director.
Prior to your first assignment, you will need to review the information posted on the Northern Lights COVID-19 Plan page.
Officials accepting assignments should be flexible and understanding of changes due to unforeseen circumstances caused by the pandemic.
An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death.
By visiting Midwest Volleyball Warehouse and participating in a Northern Lights event, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.
Adhere to current CDC & MDH guidelines regarding face coverings. Officials must wear a properly fitted mask that covers their mouth and nose at all times and use a hand-held whistle. If a malfunction occurs with a hand-held whistle, a regular whistle may be used as long as it is completely covered underneath a mask to reduce the potential of droplets.
Masks shall be worn in any non-court area of the building including the lobby, mezzanine, offices, and concrete area next to the courts by everyone in the building (players, coaches, referees, management, etc.) Once on the courts, masks may be removed by players only.
Electronic/Hand-whistles will be used by the R1. There are no R2s or Line Judges.
Social distancing should be adhered to wherever possible.
Frequent use of hand sanitizer is asked by everyone present.
Water fountains will be turned off; bottle fillers remain on.
Norther Lights asks any individual (player, coach, official, etc.) to not attend High School Fall League if they have experienced a positive COVID-19 test or are actively showing symptoms of COVID-19. They ask the same if there has been a known exposure to an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 or is actively showing symptoms.
Any other precaution as noted in the full COVID-19 plan linked in the prior section.
