2023 Dates : January 14-15, 21 - February 4, 11-12, 25-26
Crossfire will be using a simplified scoresheet developed by MVOA for their playdates since ref teams are not used. The video here covers the usage of this sheet.
Use the playing captains to bring scoresheets back/forth from their coaches so you do not need to go up/down the stand during the match.
NOTE: at the bottom of the scoresheet there is a space to put the Court #, Match Time, and winning/losing teams. ENSURE THESE BOXES ARE FILLED IN SO THAT THE SITE DIRECTOR CAN RECORD SCORES CORRECTLY.
Payment:
$30 per match
If you do not work as scheduled (more or less matches!) please email/call Robyn immediately after the event so we can ensure payments are made correctly to all officials.
Arrival Time:
Ensure you are at your assigned location 30 minutes prior to your first match.
If you are arriving mid-wave, your court may be running ahead of schedule. Check on your court upon arrival.
Site Management:
Officials are expected to treat site managers with respect and politely consult with them if there is a court issue.
Keep your court on time by calling captains for the coin toss as soon as the previous match concludes and start warmups immediately.
Concessions may be available at the event venues.
Officials will be allowed to bring in personal coolers/lunch boxes.
Facilities may have bottle fillers operable. Please come prepared with any food/water you need.
Rule Set & Modifications
USAV rules apply
Libero Jerseys: All will be acceptable with the only exception of an identical uniform to her teammates.
13U & 14U Playdates: No foot-faults called for this age. If an athlete struggles to serve the ball over the net from behind the regular serving line, she may move up a couple steps, or no more than approximately 23 feet to serve the ball. This cannot be used as a competitive advantage for athletes who are fully capable of consistently serving the full length of the court. The official may direct a server to take a step back if a server proves capable.
Playdate Format:
A wave consists of 3 matches.
Matches will be best of three sets. First two sets to 25, no cap. A third set will be played only if necessary to 15 points, no cap.
UPDATE: There is no time limit for matches, but do what you can to keep things on time.
The 2nd and 3rd matches in the wave may start early if the schedule is running ahead of time.

Teams will NOT switch sides during the match.
Warm-up:
A 10 minute warm-up, using a 2-4-4 format will be used for the FIRST MATCH of each wave.

NO formal warm-ups after the first match, teams should switch courts for their next match, conduct the coin toss & start play.
Officiating Crew:
Only R1s will be used. No R2s or LJs.
R1s will use the modified scoresheet attached to a clipboard on their stand to track subs, timeouts, and record each set score (see video above).
Coaches and athletes are use the “honor system” regarding rosters, substitutions, rule violations, and in/out calls.
Each team will provide one parent to sit at the score table to flip the scoreboard and keep the Baller TV electronic score pad.
The R1 will make the final decision on any scoring discrepancies.
