Crossfire Playdates & Tournaments Information
2023 Dates : TBD
DETAILS BELOW HAVE NOT BEEN FINALIZED FOR THE 2023 SEASON
-- USED FOR "PLAYDATES" ONLY --
Crossfire will be using a simplified scoresheet developed by MVOA for their playdates since ref teams are not used. The video here covers the usage of this sheet.
Use the playing captains to bring scoresheets back/forth from their coaches so you do not need to go up/down the stand during the match.
NOTE: at the bottom of the scoresheet there is a space to put the Court #, Match Time, and winning/losing teams. ENSURE THESE BOXES ARE FILLED IN SO THAT THE SITE DIRECTOR CAN RECORD SCORES CORRECTLY.
Arrival Time: Ensure you are at your assigned location 30 minutes prior to your first match. Doors will open 30 minutes before the start of each wave.
TOP PRIORITY: START ON TIME AND KEEP THINGS MOVING. YOU ARE PROFESSIONALS, WE EXPECT YOU WILL ARRIVE ON TIME!
$27 per match
If you do not work as scheduled (more or less matches!) please email/call Robyn immediately after the event so we can ensure payments are made correctly to all officials.
Forfeited matches that are the official's last match of their assigned day AND do not require the official to perform the forfeit procedure are not included in final match counts for payment.
A wave consists of 3 matches.
Matches will be best of three sets. First two sets to 25, no cap. A third set will be played only if necessary to 15 points, no cap.
Matches are a maximum of 60 minutes, but play until a team is ahead by 2 points. There will be a timer on the wall counting down the time if needed.
The 2nd and 3rd matches in the wave may start early if the schedule is running ahead of time.
An 8 minute warm-up, using a 4-4 format will be used for the 1st match of each wave.
Conduct this warm-up prior to the scheduled first match start time.
The first 4 minutes on the court for the serving team and then 4 minutes for the receiving team.
For the 2nd & 3rd matches in each wave, a 4 minute warm-up will be allowed for any team that did not play the previous match. If a team is playing back-to-back, then no additional warm-up is given.
NO warm-ups for any team after the first match, teams should switch courts for their next match, conduct the coin toss & start play immediately.

Coaches and athletes are use the “honor system” regarding rosters, substitutions, rule violations, and in/out calls.

The R1 will make the final decision on any scoring discrepancies.
Teams will monitor their own rotations as best they can and use the honor system.
All timers will be synced up for the 60 minute running time.
R1s will be assigned by MVOA
R2s, LJs, and scorers will be supplied by the assigned ref team
One representative from each team and the R1 will conduct a coin toss in a socially distanced manner.
The winner will choose serve or receive.
Teams will NOT switch sides during the match.
Rule Set & Modifications
USAV rules apply
13U & 14U Playdates: No foot-faults called for this age. If an athlete struggles to serve the ball over the net from behind the regular serving line, she may move up a couple steps, or no more than approximately 23 feet to serve the ball. This cannot be used as a competitive advantage for athletes who are fully capable of consistently serving the full length of the court. The official may direct a server to take a step back if a server proves capable.
