General Information - Fall League Status: Starting September 15
All matches are played at the Apple Valley Community Center, 14603 Hayes Road, Apple Valley, MN
Arrive 15 minutes prior to match time.
Dress in professional, officiating attire: White polo & dark pants (black or navy).
The teams or custodian are responsible to set-up and take down the nets.
You are responsible for your own mask, hand sanitizer, whistle and flipping coin.
Payment will be $25 per match, including forfeited matches not known prior to arrival. If you officiate one match in a night your pay will be $36.
Report Scores: Fill out the form provided at the front desk and leave it with the attendant.
Subs: Can be obtained by calling or e-mailing Deb. Advanced notice is requested.
Match Format: 3 sets per match. All sets played to 25 points, win by 2 with 27 point cap.
Time Limit: 55 minutes to complete each match
Roster: Teams must start with at least 4 players. For the FIRST match of the night, teams have a 10 minute grace to secure enough players before they forfeit set 1. After 15 minutes without 4 players, the team forfeits the match. For later matches, if a team doesn't have 4 players by match time, they forfeit set 1, after 5 minutes, they forfeit set 2, after 10 minutes, they forfeit set 3.
Officials accepting assignments should be flexible and understanding of changes due to unforeseen circumstances caused by the pandemic.
In order to minimize contact between teams, match times will be adjusted to allow for a full ten minutes between matches. Playing teams should immediately exit the gym once their match is completed. Arriving teams should NOT enter the gym more than 5 minutes before their start time and should not congregate in the hallways or lobby areas.
4 matches/night: 6:15-7:10, 7:20-8:15, 8:25-9:20 & 9:30-10:25
3 matches/night: 6:45-7:40, 7:50-8:45, 8:55-9:50
Teams should minimize shared equipment. Teams should each bring a game ball and sanitize the ball prior to using it in the league. There is spray in each gym or they may bring their own wipes. Let the teams do the sanitizing. If a ball comes into contact with anyone's face, that ball should be taken out of play and sanitized and the other ball used while the other is drying.
Participants should arrive with only what they need and must sanitize hands upon arrival and departure. Each participant should bring their own hand sanitizer to use.
Adhere to current CDC & MDH guidelines regarding face coverings. Officials must wear a properly fitted mask that covers their mouth and nose at all times and use a hand-held whistle. If a malfunction occurs with a hand-held whistle or one is not available, a regular whistle may be used as long as it is completely covered underneath a mask to reduce the potential of droplets. Players may temporarily remove masks when on the court playing in the match.
Social distancing should be adhered to and contact minimized (i.e. no high fives/huddles) and spectators are not allowed.
Participants should perform a temperature check at home to ensure it is under 100.4 F and stay home if they are exhibiting symptoms or have had direct exposure to a known positive case.
An official that has COVID-19 symptoms and/or tests positive should contact MVOA as soon as possible to remove themselves from the schedule.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: In the event of inclement weather, officials should call the weather hotline after 5:00 p.m. at 952-953-2399 > Option #1: Weatherline > Option #1: Adult Athletics. If matches are cancelled, they may be re-scheduled at the end of the regular season, prior to play-offs, time permitting.
