GENERAL INFORMATION
Leagues: Fall - Winter - Spring - Summer (Sand)
New Brighton Community Center: Court 1 in Arbiter = Court A | Court 2 in Arbiter = Court B
Highview Middle School: Court 1 in Arbiter = South Gym, Court 2 in Arbiter = Lower Gym
Match Times: 6:00, 7:00, 8:00, 9:00 OR 6:15, 7:10, 8:05, 9:00
Arrive ON-COURT no later than 15 minutes prior to match time so you have time to check the net, ball & do the coin toss.
Dress in professional officiating attire. Polo & dark pants.
Indoor: The teams and/or gym attendants are responsible to set-up and take down the nets.
You are responsible for reviewing the league rules (linked below), your own whistle, flipping coin and net chain/tape measure to check net height.
Payment will be $30 per match.
When there is only a single match scheduled, your pay will be $40

Review the Team Schedules links above to verify the # of matches on your court, note that your court may have matches from different leagues, so check all league pages for your assigned night.
Report Scores: Record scores of each set/match & report them to Brice Richter following the last match of the night. You can use a notebook to record this information OR there is a sample scorecard that you can print linked in the Rules & Forms section above.
Subs: May be requested by e-mailing Schedules@MetroVolleyball.com. Include the date and location in your request. Advanced notice is appreciated.
Serving: Jump serves are not allowed in the indoor leagues
Regular Season
Match Format - Regular Season : 3 sets per match. All sets played to 25 points, win by 2 with 27 point cap.
Time Limit: Announce at the start of the match what time you're starting and the end time. (i.e. "It is 6:30, we will play until 7:25.")
Matches are scheduled for 5 minutes of warm-up and 55 minutes of play to complete all 3 sets. Third set can't end in a tie at the time limit, so play the last point to win by 1 if needed.
Please give the teams a warning when they have 5 minutes remaining to play.
Playoffs
Match Format - Playoffs: Best 2 sets of 3. First 2 sets to 25, cap 27. Deciding 3rd set to 15, cap 17 and is only played if teams split the first 2 sets.
Roster: Teams are required to have at least 4 players on the court at all times. A team with less than 4 players present will be allowed 5 additional minutes to the warm-up period for the first set. If the team still does not have 4 players to start the match, the team forfeits the 1st set. If the team still does not have 4 players to start the match 15 minutes after the match should have started, the team will forfeit the entire match
Officials accepting assignments should be flexible and understanding of changes due to unforeseen health & safety circumstances.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: Weather-Related Match Cancellations will be made if conditions outside are unfit for travel to and from the match site, and include dangerous snow conditions and/or extreme cold. Matches cancelled due to weather will be made up as soon as possible. Check with either the Spring Lake Park or New Brighton Recreation departments by 3:30pm on game day for a ruling on a weather-related cancellation.
SAND LEAGUE WEATHER: Officials should read the Sand League rules to be familiar with weather related cancellations while onsite.

Officials Assignments
Assignments will be managed in ArbiterSports under the SCHEDULE tab (see below for an example).
Your assigned court number will appear in the Position column.
To see the others assigned to courts that night, click the blue game number to open a new screen with your partners listed along with their contact information.
The address to your assigned location can be found by clicking the name of the location in the Site column.
The number of matches you're assigned can be found by viewing the Team Schedule above and finding your assigned court. Be aware that some leagues play on multiple courts on a given night, so you may need to look at all team schedules to compile all the matches that will be played on your court.
