Rule Set & Modifications
USAV rules apply.
Libero Jerseys: All will be acceptable with the only exception of an identical uniform to her teammates.
At the Midwest Volleyball Warehouse, the divider curtains between courts and the beam supporting those curtains, and the walls are out of bounds. The remainder of the ceiling is in bounds per USAV rules.
Normal adjacent court rules apply. Players may not enter the blue part of the court next to them before, during or after playing the ball.
Special Rules for 12U Power League Matches
Net will be approximately 7'
A serving line will be placed on the court 7 meters from the net. Players may not cross that line when serving
Volley-Lite balls will be used
If a team scores 3 points in a row with the same server, then that team shall retain possession of the ball, but they must rotate and have a new server
Officials are asked by the league to be very, very lenient on their calls for the 12U league. Only obvious caught/thrown balls, and net violations should be called. Basically, the idea is to blow your whistle for the serve and blow it again when the ball hits the ground, unless someone does something very bad.
Match Format - Northern Lights Power League Weekends & 12's Cup Tournament:
Each match is best 2 out of 3 sets, the first two sets will be played to 25 points, win by 2, no cap.
If the match is split 1-1, play a full third set to 15 points, win by 2, no cap, no time limit.
Coin Toss:
A team representative(s) from each team and the R1 will conduct a coin toss.
Assign 'heads' to one side and 'tails' to the other when performing the coin toss. The winner of the coin toss will choose serve, side or receive.
If a 3rd set is necessary, the a team representative(s) will meet with the R1 at center court for a coin toss, the winner will choose serve or receive.
Teams will NOT switch sides at any time during the match.
Warm-up:
Standard 2-4-4 warm-up where Team A will have the first 4 minutes and Team B will have the last 4 minutes.
Teams are NOT allowed to ball handle, pepper, etc. while the other team has exclusive use of the court.
Officiating Crew:
R1s will be assigned by MVOA
Teams will provide the remaining crew members (Adult R2, Line Judges, Score table staff).
In the 12's Division, if only one coach is available, they should not serve as the R2, Instead they should be at the score table helping the score crew. In this case, the R1 may be officiating alone.
OFFICIALS SHOULD WRITE THEIR NAME LEGIBLY ON EACH SCORE SHEET SO NORTHERN LIGHTS CAN VERIFY PAYROLL.
