2025 Fall (Sept - Dec) | 2026 Winter (Jan - Mar) | 2026 Spring (Mar - May) | 2026 Summer (Jun - Aug)
This page contains information on getting started officiating Adult Parks & Rec volleyball in the Twin Cities metro area. Typical assignments range from 2 to 4 matches per night. League-specific information can be found on each of the pages under the Parks & Rec tab.
CHECKLIST: All officials must complete the following:
Officials should secure their own liability coverage to work events/leagues run by our partner cities and clubs.
Submit the MVOA Parks & Rec Application (available August 1). This prompts us to activate you for the new season in Arbiter for assignments.
You control your schedule! As soon as you've accepted our invitation to ArbiterSports (online assigning website), enter your BLOCKS so we know what day(s) of the week you are available and interested in being assigned.
Submit the 2025-26 Independent Contractor Agreement (available annually on August 1)
For Woodbury Leagues, also submit their supplemental ICA available annually on January 1 to Eligibility@metrovolleyball.com
Submit a W-9 (only need a new one if you've moved or changed your last name)
Submit a Direct Deposit Authorization form (only need a new one if you changed bank accounts)
REMINDERS: If you are paid over $600 in a calendar year by Metro Volleyball Officials Association you will receive a 1099-NEC for your tax filing.
Starting August 1, 2025, contractors will only be paid via Direct Deposit. There will no longer be a paper check option.
The initial round of assignments are sent to returning officials that have worked a league in the past. We then send out assignments to new officials who indicated on their applications that they'd also like to work a regular league. Finally, we open up remaining assignments to be claimed through Arbiter under the SCHEDULE>Self Assign tab for all officials to fill their schedule with available league dates.
To claim an open league night, log into Arbiter > go to the SCHEDULE tab > select the SELF ASSIGN sub tab > review the open dates > click the [Go] button to claim the slot. Claimed slots then appear under SCHEDULE > Calendar along with your other assignments.
NOTE: Your calendar must be free of any BLOCKS on that date in order to see open dates on the SELF ASSIGN sub tab.
